Blog House and TBEX Toronto 2013: The Five W’s and Initial Thoughts

In Announcements, Blog by Kay9 Comments

Recently, I have been given the wonderful opportunity to participate in Blog House Toronto, hosted by Navigate Media Group, and TBEX (Travel Blog Exchange) Conference this summer. At first, when I went to the New York Times Travel Show, I was a little overwhelmed about the scores of accomplished and talented bloggers I met. I didn’t think I fit in with them, as an inexperienced, young blogger, but I quickly came to realize that they all were in my position at one point. I’m so excited for this week of learning, networking, blogging, and travel-inspired conversation – after all, it’s what I want to do with my life. Anyway, if you’re curious about what Blog House and TBEX actually are (as well as why I decided to participate in them), then read on!

The 5 W’s

Well, of course, I’m the one who will be representing The Kay Days, but the entire week will be sponsored by Navigate Media Group, Toronto Tourism, TBEX, and various other organizations. Most importantly, the events will consist of dozens of amazing travelers, photographers, and writers who specialize in various travel-related fields and niches.

Blog House is a small group of bloggers who are selected by Navigate Media Group to participate in a pre-TBEX event for people who want to expand, develop, or jump-start their blog. TBEX is a much larger conference full of events, networking opportunities (with other bloggers and agencies), seminars, workshops, and of course, tons of fun.

The entire week will take place in Toronto, Canada.

In its entirety, the events will span the length of one week – May 27-June 2, 2013.

A few months ago, I decided that if I could make a career out of inspiring others to travel and helping them take the first leap, then I would do it for a living once I graduate. I feel that the best way I can do this is through my blog. I’ve met a few other bloggers before, Nadine in Vienna and a bunch of awesome people at the New York Times Travel Show this January, and I’ve found that they were extremely helpful and inspiring to me.You all are my audience, life blood, keepers of my eternal gratitude, and (most importantly) friends, and I want to bring you the best writing, information, and hilariously sarcastic stories that I have to offer. I feel that this week will definitely help me improve these skills.

Of course, I wouldn’t even be going to Toronto if it weren’t for you all. I think what inspires me the most about keeping this blog is the fact that I get such wonderful comments, messages, tweets, and emails from you all. I love it when people tell me that one of my articles inspired them to plan a trip, try something new, or even just consider travel as a legitimate possibility. My week in Toronto will hopefully bring me more knowledge and connections to bring you the best travel information and inspiration possible.
